Social Media and Fitness

Source
What (you may be asking) does social media have to do with fitness?

Well, you are reading this blog hoping for some health tips and tricks, aren't you?

Many of us use social media every day to help us on our quest for good health and don't even realize it. Whether you are following a fitness guru on Twitter or joined a weight loss group on Facebook, we are all looking for support to help us reach our wellness goals.

With so many options out there, how do you know which platforms (or people) will actually help YOU? Here are some tips to help you choose.

  1. The Sites You Visit Daily -It might be worth your while to follow them on Facebook and/or Twitter to save you time and get quick tips (I use TweetDeck to keep it all organized).
  2. Talk To Your Friends - Ask your friends which sites they use (or don't use) and why. They can introduce you to a new person or network that you may have never found on your own.
  3. You Can't Do Everything - There are a lot of social media sites out there and they are not for everybody so you need do your homework. Learn about the purpose of the site and see if it would be a good fit to help you reach your health goals (here is a categorized list of sites to get you started at Traffikd).

Become Your Best

Source
I had the pleasure of attending the CanFitPro Fitness Conference and Trade Show over the weekend for the 10th time. For those of you not familiar with the event, it is the 3-days in August when over 5,000 fitness professionals descend on Toronto to participate in workshops, learn about new products and shop.

I am happy to report that I walked away feeling inspired, motivated and tired (OK, that last one is not so great but I can catch up on sleep this week).

I went to some pretty fantastic workshops and there were some key messages that really stuck with me. I would like to share some them with you and hope they will help inspire you to become your best.
  • Turn your passion into your mission, not just a job
  • Don't think you are an expert in your field, know it
  • Take action now, procrastinate later
  • Nourish your body and love it because it will not last

Stay Healthy,
Tracy

Just Dance

Source

I often listen to music when I am doing chores around the house.

Today as I was doing my laundry, a classic dance song from the 90's came on and without really thinking, I started to dance.

Not only did it make the task of sorting and folding go much faster, it was FUN! It reminded my how much I liked to dance as a child and that I should try to do it more often.

Why am I telling you about my dance-capades?

We often get so caught up in the stresses of everyday life that we forget about the little things that bring us joy.

You certainly don't have to dance around your living room, just do something, anything that makes you happy as it did when you were young.

Whether it is going for a swing at the local park or doing a cannon ball into your backyard pool, your inner child will thank you and you just might make your outer adult smile.

Stay Healthy,
Tracy
