Four Ways to Stay Fit this Fall

Say that 10 times fast ;)

Fall is one of my favourite times of the year.  Yes, the days are a little bit shorter, but the weather is (usually) lovely and the foliage is amazing.

Here are are four ways for you to enjoy the season and get healthy at the same time (bonus!)

Try Some New Recipes
Mix up your menu and try some of the fabulous fruits and veggies in season such as apples, squash, broccoli, kale, cranberries, cabbage and pears.  Here are a few delicious recipes from some of my favourite bloggers.

Butternut Squash and Black Bean Chilli (Oh She Glows)
Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal (I Heart Wellness)
Raw Vegan Cheesy Kale Chips (Love, Veggies and Yoga)

Hit the Road, Jack!
You know I love taking it outside!

If you usually shy away from outdoor workouts in the summer because of the heat, the autumn is a perfect time to give them a try.  The weather is crisp (remember to dress in layers) and the possibilities are endless.  Hiking, biking, running, walking, roller blading...and the list goes on.  If you don't want to do it alone, grab a buddy or make it a family affair.

Walk, Run, Cycle, for a Cause
This is a great way to stay active and raise some money for a good cause.  From full marathons to 5k walks, there is something out there for everyone and every fitness level.  Here are a few to check out in the Toronto area.
(Please feel free to share any events in your area in the comments below ;)

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (Various Charities, October 16th)
CIBC Run for the Cure (Breast Cancer, Multiple Locations, October 2nd in TO)
Light the Night Walk (Leukemia and Lymphoma, October 5th)
