How to Make Your Business/Blog Stand Out

There are hundreds of healthy living blogs out there.  If you are running a business, I would also bet that there are at least that many like-services acting as your competition.

So, how do you make your blog/business stand out from the rest?

While there is no surefire way to guarantee that you will get thousands of followers, there are a few things you can do to make your brand/business/blog the best it can be.

Have a Visually Appealing, Easy to Navigate Site
Have a look at your current site and ask yourself:
  • Are the colours effective and easy on the eyes?
  • Are you able to find exactly what you are looking for?
  • Is the most important information the easiest to find?
  • Is the purpose/theme of your site absolutely clear?
Scope out some of your favourite blogs/websites and think about what makes them so effective.  Then, visit some sites don't like as much and make notes about both.  Go back to your own site and see what changes you can make based on what works for you and what doesn't.

Choose Quality over Quantity
I have mentioned this a few times before, but whether you are a blogger or a business, there is absolutely no denying that content is king.  This content can come in form of mindful and informative blog posts or stellar and practical products/services.  Never underestimate the power of quality to help you rise above the pack.

Add/Remove Something from Your Business/Blog
Add something to your services/blog that the others just don't have.  For example, if you are a nutritionist, instead of just offering one-on-one sessions, try adding workshops into the mix.

If you are a food blogger, consider inviting your readers to contribute recipes every week and you can choose a few to give a vegan/gluten free/healthy makeover.

Conversely, you could also remove something from your roster.  If you are a massage therapist and offer your services to all ages and abilities, you could consider catering to a specialty population (i.e. sports massages, treatments for youth etc.).

If you are a health blogger, think about which aspect of fitness you are most interested in and eliminate other aspects of your blog that don't fit in.

What do you think?  How do you make your blog/business stand out?

Stay Healthy,
Tracy

P.S. Katy Widrick has put together a fantastic series of posts called "Blog Homework".  If you have not checked these out, I highly recommend them as a great starting point.
