How to Get People to "Like" You (on Facebook)

So, you have a fantastic blog with a pretty solid following, you created a Facebook page and you are patiently waiting for people to "like" you.

They will "like" you because they follow your blog, right?

Well, not necessarily.  Sure, some people will follow you where ever you may go, but others need a little motivation.

Here are some simple ways that will help you to get your fans to click that "like" button.

 Spread the Word
If you want people to "like" you, they need to know about your page.  Announce your page on LinkedIn, tweet about it, invite your current Facebook friends to join, write about it on your website and blog and...you get the idea.

Make it Easy
Including a link on your blog or website makes it quick and easy for fans to "like" your Facebook page.  Make sure this link is located in a place that is easy to find.  If people can't find you, they will move on.

Give Them Incentive
Many bloggers (including myself) have giveaways and to enter, you are required to "like" their Facebook page.

While some may feel that "forcing" people to like you is not the way to go, I would argue that if you offer this as an option, people visit your page when they may not have thought to go there otherwise.  It gives them a reason to check it out and decide if they want to join or not.

You can also make exclusive offers or give information that is only available to people who belong to your page.   Remember: content is always king.  Give them something great to read and they will always come back for more.

 "Like" Other Pages
While "liking" other pages does not necessarily guarantee that people will "like" you back, it may encourage them to come and have a look at your page to see what you have to offer.  The message here is to get involved.  Comment on other pages as well as your own.  You need to be proactive.

What do you think?  Do you spread the word about your Facebook Page?
